Stella Pop Content Marketing – Are You Tactical or Strategic?

The world is speeding by and sometimes it’s hard to get a moment to think especially if you run, manage or own a business.

Here are two questions for you whether you are a sole proprietor or board room maverick:

  • Are you a tactical or strategic leader?
  • Are you running a business or developing one?

Might be helpful to define both of the words, I know you know what they mean,
but sometimes is helpful to see the definition straight from Merriam-Webster:

tactical: aiming at an end beyond and taking immediate actions.
strategic: identification of long-term or overall aims and interests and the means of achieving them.

Here’s the answer to both of these question and it’s all wrapped in one little saying, I liked it so much, I had it printed on a card,

“Short-term solutions are devoid of long-term strategy.”

Most of us are trying to get those six things done on our daily “todo” list” and might not take the time to slow down and think tactically, truly focusing on developing our business or department. Our days are filled with reactionary management and the long-term goals or tactical thinking becomes a massive blur.

Tom Watson - Founder of IBM

Tom Watson - Founder of IBM

This story is truly, old school but makes the perfect point, Mr. Tom Watson, not the golfer but the man who founder IBM was asked what was the most important thing he ever did in business?

And after a long pause he said, “I developed a vision of my business, a plan I relentless developed and then worked to empower my people to think long-term and work tactically toward developing that vision.”

Develop a business, not running a business.

That statement is so perfect and here at Stella Pop, we work everyday to tactically develop our business and we put the same care into developing your business. Carefully and tactically, one step at a time. Building a foundation for your brand, message or online media that can withstand the test of time and doesn’t focus on short term results – we focus on measurable long-term result and vision.

Stella Says, “Tactical thinking, not strategic.” Try it, you might like it. Give you a sense of freedom and allows your message to shine.
