Stella’s Pop Factory and Goodwill(R) of Greater Washington Launches Recycling and Mission Awareness Campaign with Miss District of Columbia

Campaign includes original Video Series and Rap-Opera Song conceptualized and developed by Stella Pop, features Jen Corey and Grammy Nominated Artist, Kokayi, the video series documents Miss DC 2009 shopping for Recycled Furniture in Support of Her Recycling Platform for Miss America Pageant.

Reston, VA (PRWEB) January 8, 2010 — Goodwill(R) of Greater Washington, creators of the nationally recognized DC Goodwill Fashion Blog are about to kickoff a month long recycling brand and mission awareness campaign developed and produced by Stella’s Pop Factory featuring Jen Corey, Miss District of Columbia 2009.

The launch of the campaign is timed to showcase Corey’s recycling platform as she prepares to represent our nation’s capital at the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas on January 30th, as well as generate greater awareness for Goodwill’s mission during its slowest donation season of the year.

The promotion is two tiered. The first element includes a series of short video vignettes that will be featured on the DC Goodwill Fashion Blog (www.fashionofgoodwill.org/blog) each Friday between January 8th and January 22nd. The intimate videos follow Corey as she shops at Goodwill Stores for recycled furniture and accessories to furnish and transform her new apartment from empty and drab to chic and colorful.
The second component is a rap song with lyrics influenced by Goodwill’s job training mission, written and performed by Grammy nominated DC artist and producer, Kokayi (www.kokayi202.com) and sampling Miss Corey singing opera. Corey is a highly trained opera singer and will be giving an opera performance during the Pageant.

Snippets of the single titled “Dream without Boundaries” will be played during each video vignette. The entire song will then be available for purchase online for a $2 donation to Goodwill of Greater Washington.
“Kokayi is extremely talented; and we believe that Jen Corey is an amazing ambassador for Goodwill and our nation’s capital. This campaign will not only demonstrate Miss Corey’s passion for recycling and her tremendous support of her community, but also her incredible singing ability”, said Brendan Hurley, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Goodwill of Greater Washington. “We are very grateful to Miss Corey, Michael S. O’Grady CCO of Stella’s Pop Factory and Kokayi for donating their time and talents to Goodwill for the benefit of people who are seeking hope, dignity and independence.”

The video and musical concepts were the brainchild of Reston VA based Creative and Marketing Agency, Stella’s Pop Factory (www.stellaspopfactory.com). Stella Pop has generously provided pro bono consulting, concept development, public relations and video production services over the course of this six month project. The theme song “Dream Without Boundaries” was also conceptualized by Stella Pop in conjunction with local rap artist Kokayi and Jen Cory and was recorded and mixed by Nicolas Laget at the Sweet Spot Studio (www.sweetspotstudio.com).

Goodwill of Greater Washington’s mission is to educate, train, employ and place people with disadvantages and disabilities, creating a stronger workforce and a more vital community while building dignity for the people we serve through the removal of barriers to personal success.
